Contact Welfare

The aim of the welfare officers is to support our members by offering emotional and practical help through Narpo officers, other agencies and the Force Welfare and Benevolent fund. Whether through bereavement, illness, stress or emotional upset, please feel free to contact us in confidence. Contact is preferred via email but you can call us on 07960 976825 and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Please understand that the welfare officers are volunteers, and the telephone is not manned 24 hours a day.
We are in the process of recruiting local post code reps. who will help the welfare officers with visits and support to members, particularly but not exclusively over 80's. If you know a member who may benefit from such a visit or telephone contact, please let us know.

 Expenses Claim

A contribution towards travel expenses for hospital visits and/or car parking costs can be recovered from the force welfare fund for members and their spouses/partners.

Whilst the fund is there to help us, the funds are not bottomless and  aim in principal is to help those who are in need rather than just a fund we can claim from just because we can. (See rule 10.1 below).

Claims are payable if over £20, the fund has to pay for the account to be administered and it is uneconomical to keep paying out small amounts. You can keep the receipts and claim when you reach £20 if you wish. If you know of a member who needs some help please contact the welfare officers.

Expenses Claim Form

10.1 Medical visits - travel contributions
Whilst contributions towards travel are not means tested and can be awarded to any member, it is expected members will only claim for assistance with travel if such costs incurred resulted in financial difficulty or where there is a welfare need.
A reasonable contribution will (subject to threshold) be paid at a rate determined at the AGM regardless of the mode of transport.  Only one return journey per day will be paid.  (Applies to members and dependents – spouse or partner, children and parents - associated with illness or accident).
Claims are to be made within the same financial year if possible. Historic claims over 12 months old will not be honoured unless there are exceptional circumstances.
